Woman accused of DWI while driving wrong way on Route 46 in Morris County with juveniles in car

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A woman is facing multiple charges after she was accused of driving the wrong way while intoxicated on Route 46 in Denville Township with two juveniles in the vehicle, police said.

Vicraida Ortega, 26, of Paterson was arrested around 1:36 a.m. on July 20 after Denville police responded to reports of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes near the Denville and Mountain Lakes border.

Responding officers located the vehicle and were able to stop it without incident. According to police, Ortega was found to be intoxicated during the stop and had two juveniles in the vehicle at the time.

She was arrested and transported to Denville Police Headquarters, where she was charged with two counts of child neglect, driving while intoxicated, wrong way on a one-way street, reckless driving, and careless driving.

Ortega was later released to a sober friend pending a future court appearance.
