Woman charged in theft of wallet at Morris County Trader Joe’s, use of stolen credit cards

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Passaic woman has been charged in connection with the theft of a wallet at Trader Joe’s in Denville and the subsequent use of the stolen credit cards at multiple stores, according to township police.

Police said the incident occurred on Dec. 11, 2023, when a shopper reported her wallet stolen while inside the Trader Joe’s store. The victim later discovered that her credit cards had been used at several stores in Rockaway Borough, Denville, and Wayne.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspect as Rosa M. Castro, 54, of Passaic. On Nov. 3, 2025, police learned Castro was in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility. Denville officers responded to the jail and charged her with multiple offenses, including theft by unlawful taking, fraudulent use of credit cards, credit card theft, and conspiracy to commit each of those crimes.

After being processed, Castro was issued a complaint warrant and given a future court date in Morris County Superior Court.
