Woman charged with DUI, drug offenses after crash i Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Dover woman faces multiple criminal and motor vehicle charges after a crash that left people injured in Denville Township, authorities said.

Denville police responded at about 1:04 p.m. Jan. 29 to a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries on Route 46 westbound near Franklin Road. During the investigation, officers determined that one of the drivers, identified as Alexandra M. Campbell, 31, was operating a vehicle while intoxicated, police said.

Campbell was taken into custody and, during a search incident to her arrest, officers allegedly found multiple pills without a valid prescription along with drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

She was charged with driving under the influence, DUI on school property, careless and reckless driving, following too closely, assault by auto, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of prescription legend drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance without a prescription. She was also issued the appropriate motor vehicle summonses, police said.

Campbell was later released pending a future court appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
