Woman killed, three others injured in multi-vehicle crash on I-80 in Morris County

WHARTON BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A woman was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County on Thursday morning, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 8:08 a.m. on I-80 west near milepost 34.5 in Wharton Borough, said Tpr. II Christopher Postorino.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Tisha R. Hutchinson, 39, of Piscataway, was driving a Subaru SUV westbound when it was struck from behind by an Audi SUV.

After the initial impact, the Subaru was redirected to the right and struck a guardrail. The Audi continued forward and struck a Pontiac passenger vehicle, which then struck a Chevrolet SUV, authorities said.

Hutchinson sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The driver of the Audi and two juvenile passengers sustained moderate injuries and were transported to an area hospital. No other injuries were reported at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
