Woman slumped over steering wheel charged with DUI in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Budd Lake woman is facing a DUI charge after she allegedly was slumped over the steering wheel of her car in Mount Olive Township.

On June 4, at 10:35 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Equity Plaza, located at 382 Route 46, for a report of a woman slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle parked in the lot, police said.

The officer located the tan Mazda parked by Enzo’s Pizza. The female driver was able to be roused and was asked to exit the vehicle, police said.

The female was identified as 44-year-old Melissa Lapinski and as the officer spoke with her, the officer noted that she appeared to be impaired. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested, police said.

Lapinski was charged with driving under the influence of CDS, DWI, and reckless driving. She was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
