Worker killed in forklift accident at Morris County business, police say

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — A 48-year-old man died Monday afternoon after becoming trapped beneath a forklift at a business on Edwards Road in Parsippany-Troy Hills, according to police.

Police said officers responded at approximately 4:17 p.m. to 792 Edwards Road after receiving a 911 call reporting a man pinned under a forklift.

Upon arrival, responding officers found the man unresponsive and trapped beneath the vehicle.

Authorities said officers used a nearby floor jack to lift the forklift and free the man, but he had already succumbed to his injuries.

Par-Troy EMS, Saint Clare’s paramedics and Parsippany Fire District No. 5 also responded to assist at the scene.

The Parsippany Police Department Investigative Branch, Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded as part of the investigation.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing, but the death is not currently believed to be criminal in nature.
