Erratic driver complaint leads to DWI arrest in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Warren County man is facing a driving while intoxicated charge after allegedly driving erratically in Mount Olive Township.

On March 13, at 1:54 a.m., an officer responded to the area of Route 46 westbound for the report of an erratic driver. The officer located the vehicle, a silver Hyundai, stopped at the intersection of Route 46 and North Mount Olive Road, police said.

The vehicle remained stopped at the intersection through a full cycle of the light, failing to proceed when the light turned green. The officer activated his lights and initiated a motor vehicle stop. The officer approached the vehicle, and after knocking on the window, was able to contact the driver, identified as Jordan Griffith, 20, of Hackettstown, police said.

As the officer spoke with Griffith, he allegedly detected the odor of burnt marijuana and noted that Griffith appeared to be impaired, police said.

Griffith was asked to exit his vehicle for field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with DWI, reckless driving, delaying traffic, failure to maintain lane, safety glass requirement violation, and failure to possess a driver’s license. Griffith was released to a sober driver pending a court appearance, police said.
