12 Roxbury students earn All-State and All-Eastern choir honors; teacher Patrick Hachey selected as conductor

ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Twelve Roxbury Township students earned prestigious regional and state choir honors this year, while Roxbury High School choir director Patrick Hachey was selected to conduct the New Jersey All-State Treble Choir.

Hachey, the director of choirs and lead teacher of performing arts at Roxbury High School, conducted the ensemble during rehearsals and performances held Feb. 19–22 in Atlantic City. The recognition is rare — only 10 high school teachers have been selected to conduct the All-State Treble Choir during the ensemble’s 25-year history.

The honor marks the second time Hachey has been chosen to conduct an All-State choir during his 26-year career in music education, including 22 years with Roxbury Township Public Schools.

Roxbury High School choir teacher Krista Sweer also participated in the event, serving as pianist for the All-State Treble Choir.

Four Roxbury High School students were selected to perform in the New Jersey All-State Treble Choir, which is sponsored by the New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA), a professional organization that promotes music education and recognizes outstanding student musicians across the state.
