2-alarm fire in Netcong Borough leaves families displaced; donations accepted for relief efforts
NETCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A 2-alarm fire in Netcong Borough displaced two families, with the community now rallying to support those affected through donations.
On Tuesday, January 7, just after 7:00 p.m., the Netcong Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Dell Avenue. As they made their way to the scene, fire chief observed thick smoke visible from Route 183, prompting an immediate confirmation from Netcong Police that the fire was actively burning.
A second-alarm was quickly called to bring additional resources to the scene.
Fire crews battled the blaze amid strong winds and freezing temperatures, working tirelessly to extinguish the flames. While firefighters fought the main fire, the strong winds carried embers, igniting a secondary fire in an adjacent yard on Allen Street. Byram Township Fire responded swiftly and extinguished the small blaze, preventing further damage.
As a result of the fire, two families were displaced from their homes. The community is coming together to support those affected. Donations for the displaced families can be dropped off at Netcong Elementary School or directly at the residence of Wayne Anthony, a Netcong Emergency Management official, at 24 Dell Avenue.
Monetary donations can also be made via Venmo to the Netcong Education Foundation @netcongeducationfoundation.
