2 charged for alleged illegal dumping at Six Mile Run Reservoir Site

SOMERSET, NJ (Somerset County) – The New Jersey State Park Police have charged two individuals for alleged illegal dumping at the Six Mile Run Reservoir Site, which is part of the D&R Canal State Park.

Officers traced the illegally dumped items to a home in Somerset, where the homeowner recently hired Gerald Styles of Highland Park Borough, for a garage cleanout, state park police said.

Identifying information for Janice Eato-Griffin of North Brunswick, was also allegedly found at the location, however it is not believed that it was tied to the garage cleanout, state park police said.

Both were charged with the improper disposal of solid waste in excess of 0.148 cubic yards, state park police said.

The charges listed above carry maximum penalties of $20,000 and community service for a term of up to 180 days, along with the forfeiture of all vehicles used or intended for use in the unlawful transportation or disposal of solid waste.

If you observe illegal or suspicious activity while visiting New Jersey’s state parks, forests or historic sites, report the activity to DEP Dispatch at 1-877-WARNDEP (1-877-927-6337) or 9-1-1.
