2 illegal mobile cannabis dispensaries shut down in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY, NJ –  Police seized two mobile marijuana dispensaries allegedly operating illegally in two Warren County towns, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

On Thursday, March 7, after a months long investigation, the Hackettstown Police Department in coordination with the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office, New Jersey State Police, and the New Jersey Division of Taxation executed two search warrants on “Bud Bus Inc,” officials said.

Search warrants were executed on a Bud Bus Inc. trailer which was parked in the parking lot of 903 High Street in Hackettstown and on a Bud Bus Inc. van which was parked at 1077 State Highway 94 in Frelinghuysen Township, authorities said.

The search warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately $1,900 in cash, suspected raw marijuana, and suspected cannabinoid infused products in various forms, the prosecutor’s office said.

Additionally, a 2018 Ram Promaster van and 2024 Loom trailer were seized as part of this investigation, officials said.

William F. Schlette, 46, of West Nyack, NY was charged with two counts of third-degree possession of marijuana in a quantity of more than 1 ounce but less than 5 pounds, two counts of fourth-degree possession of marijuana in a quantity of more than 6 ounces, two counts of third-degree money laundering, unlawfully, knowingly, and willingly possess property known or which a reasonable person would believe to be derived from criminal activity, specifically $1,900 in cash, two counts of third-degree misconduct by Corporate Official, purposely or knowingly uses, controls or operates a corporation for the furtherance or promotion of any criminal object, specifically by operating the Bud Bus Inc. to make illegal sales of marijuana, and two counts of deceptive business Practices, knowingly and willingly make false and misleading statements in an advertisement addressed to the public, specifically by advertising the Bud Bus trailer as a “dispensary” with signs located on the premises as well as listing it as 11100% legal business” on their website and Facebook page.

The third-degree offenses carry a maximum sentence of 5 years in the New Jersey State Prison and fourth-degree offenses carry a maximum sentence of 18 months in the New Jersey State Prison. Disorderly Persons Offenses carry a maximum sentence of 6 months in the Warren County Correctional Center.
