Man arrested on drug and weapons charges following traffic stop in Hunterdon County
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Warren County man was arrested last month after police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of weapons, drug paraphernalia, and synthetic urine intended to defraud a drug test.
According to Clinton Township Police Chief Thomas A. DeRosa, Andrew J. Vaccarro Jr., 37, of Belvidere was taken into custody on June 1, after an officer observed his green Jeep commit a motor vehicle violation on Route 31 near Beaver Avenue.
Vaccarro was asked to exit the vehicle during the stop. Police say he was found in possession of a pocket knife, syringes, and razors. He also reportedly gave conflicting answers to the officer’s questions. K-9 Tapko conducted a sniff of the vehicle’s exterior and alerted to the presence of narcotics.
A subsequent probable cause search of the Jeep uncovered a switchblade-style gravity knife, items containing suspected CDS residue, an empty heroin wax fold, and a bottle of synthetic urine, police said.
Vaccarro was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a substance to defraud a drug test, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a summons for failure to maintain a lane. Vaccarro was released on his own recognizance pending a future appearance in Hunterdon County Superior Court.
