DEP launches online tool to help New Jersey residents and organizations find clean energy project funding
TRENTON, N.J. — Building on its commitment to expand clean energy opportunities across New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn M. LaTourette on Tuesday announced the launch of the New Jersey Funding One Stop Shop, a new online tool designed to help residents, local governments, nonprofit organizations and businesses easily identify funding for clean energy and sustainability projects.
The interactive database connects users to federal, state, local and utility funding opportunities that can help reduce costs for projects aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality and promoting energy efficiency.
“New Jersey continues to pave the way toward a clean energy future that not only improves public health but expands and strengthens the economy as well,” said Commissioner LaTourette. “The One Stop Shop database is an easy-to-use tool that can help residents, local governments, and nonprofits pursue critical green projects like homeowners installing a heat pump to a government transitioning to an all-electric vehicle fleet.”
The tool asks users a series of questions about their project — such as its location, type, and utility provider — and then provides a tailored list of available grants, rebates, financing options and technical assistance programs. Seven project categories are included: Building Energy Efficiency, Energy Generation, Industry, Transportation, Education/Workforce, Food Systems/Waste, and Resilience.
A public webinar on how to use the database will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Monday, Oct. 20.
Among the highlighted programs available through the tool are:
- Natural Climate Solutions, offering over $42 million for projects that create or enhance natural carbon sinks.
- It Pay$ to Plug In, providing funding for electric vehicle charging stations.
- Diesel Modernization Program, which replaces diesel vehicles and equipment with cleaner options.
- NJ Cool, a $15 million pilot program supporting retrofit projects that reduce emissions in existing buildings.
- JCP&L’s Commercial Custom Equipment and Building Program, offering rebates of up to 75% for non-standard energy efficiency projects.
Developed in partnership with Atlas Public Policy and funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the One Stop Shop includes resources such as a glossary of terms, a frequently asked questions page, and links to federal and state funding databases.
“The One Stop Shop streamlines access to project funding opportunities, helping turn great ideas into successful projects,” said Annabelle Rosser, senior policy analyst with Atlas Public Policy, which designed the tool.
The new platform is the latest clean energy initiative from the Murphy Administration, joining a suite of state programs that support solar siting, electric vehicle adoption, climate education, and community air monitoring.
