NEW JERSEY — Two Delaware River bridges connecting New Jersey and Pennsylvania are scheduled to temporarily close to vehicle traffic Thursday, Oct. 1, for centerline repainting, according to the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
The Centre Bridge-Stockton Toll-Supported Bridge and New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge will each close to vehicles for about 30 minutes at separate times between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The closures will not occur at the same time.
Commission maintenance crews will apply new yellow centerlines to each bridge and place cones to protect the freshly painted lines while they dry. The drying process could take up to two hours.
Pedestrian walkways at both bridges will remain open during the work.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid delays.
For the Centre Bridge-Stockton bridge, nearby alternatives include the New Hope-Lambertville Route 202 Toll Bridge to the south and the Uhlerstown-Frenchtown Toll-Supported Bridge to the north.
For the New Hope-Lambertville bridge, alternatives include the Washington Crossing Toll-Supported Bridge to the south and the Route 202 toll bridge to the north.
The scheduled closures are subject to change because of weather, emergencies or other factors.
