73-year-old man charged with DUI after crash in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 73-year-old Morris County man has been charged following a crash in Denville Township.

The crash happened on Sunday, June 9, at around 10:12 p.m., on Ceder Lake West, police said.

During the course of the investigation, one of the drivers, Jeffrey Vandermark, 73, of Denville Township was determined to be allegedly operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Police also determined that Vandermark had suffered a head injury prior to the crash. He was then transported to Saint Clare’s Hospital and treated for his injuries, officials said.

Vandermark was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, reckless driving, and improper backing or turning in street.

Vandermark was considered under arrest during his time at the hospital but was ultimately released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance, police said.
