3 face charges following wallet theft from Somerset County QuickChek

RARITAN BOROUGH, NJ (Somerset County) — Police charged three individuals on April 8 in connection with an alleged wallet theft that occurred earlier this year at the QuickChek at the Somerville Traffic Circle in Raritan Borough.

According to police, on January 8, a victim reported accidentally leaving her wallet in the bathroom of the Quick Chek. When she returned shortly after, she discovered that her credit card and driver’s license had been stolen.

While speaking with patrol officers, the victim learned her credit card had been used to make a $136 purchase at the Liquor Saver on West Somerset Street. Officers responded to the area, but the suspects had already fled, police said.

Following an investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Marquis Esaw, 43, of South Plainfield; Maura McCloud, 20, of Branchburg; and Jasmin Foster, 21, of Bridgewater were identified as suspects, police said.

Esaw was charged with credit card fraud, identity theft, and theft by deception. A warrant was issued for his arrest. McCloud and Foster were each charged with theft of mislaid property and were issued summonses to appear in court, police said.
