Carpenter bee activity prompts caution at Mt. Playmore playground in Mount Olive Township

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Mount Olive Township officials are advising families to use caution at Mt. Playmore playground in Turkey Brook Park due to increased carpenter bee activity near wooden structures.

According to Mayor Joe Nicastro, while carpenter bees are generally not aggressive, their large size and buzzing presence can be intimidating. It’s important to note that female carpenter bees can sting, though males do not have stingers.

The township is actively monitoring the situation and working to address the issue as quickly as possible. In the meantime, families are encouraged to keep a safe distance from areas with bee activity.

As a precaution, those who are allergic to bee stings or particularly sensitive are advised to visit the Flanders Park playground instead, at least for the next two weeks.

Town officials thanked residents for their understanding and cooperation in helping to maintain a safe and enjoyable play environment for all.
