New Jersey State Police Victim Services Unit holds successful food drive for domestic violence shelters, donates $400,000 in goods

NEW JERSEY – The New Jersey State Police’s (NJSP) Victim Services Unit recently completed another successful food drive, providing crucial support to domestic violence shelters across the state.

The annual drive, which takes place each year during the holiday season, is a vital effort that helps bring hope and essential resources to victims of domestic violence during a time of need.

This year’s food drive was a resounding success, with collection sites set up at various NJSP stations, state offices, and county advocacy offices across New Jersey. The community’s generosity resulted in an impressive 13 pallets of food, medicine, toiletries, and other essential items—valued at $400,000 in total.

A total of 189 boxes and 120 bags filled with supplies were distributed to all 21 county domestic violence shelters, ensuring that victims and their families received the assistance they needed to make it through the winter months. These donations will provide essential resources such as non-perishable food, toiletries, and medicine.

The success of this year’s food drive was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several organizations, including the Troopers United Foundation, The New Jersey Turnpike Authority, Holtz’s Heroes Foundation, the Notre Dame Club of Staten Island, the Notre Dame Bread of Life Drive (BOLD), and the Union County Troopers Youth Baseball Team.
