Two women accused of shoplifting, theft by deception at Morris County HomeGoods

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two Passaic women are facing charges after allegedly shoplifting from a HomeGoods store, 50 International Drive South, and fraudulently obtaining a gift card, according to police.

Police said that on March 15 at about 5:05 p.m., officers responded to the store for a report of past-tense shoplifting. A store investigator told police that two women entered the store, selected merchandise, and returned it for a gift card valued at $139.98. Following an investigation, the suspects were identified as Yennifer Nin-Hernandez, 29, and Paola Mercedes, 29, both of Passaic.

Mercedes was arrested without incident at police headquarters on May 13. She was charged with shoplifting and theft by deception and was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.

On May 21, Nin-Hernandez turned herself in on an outstanding warrant. She was also arrested without incident and charged with theft by deception and shoplifting. She was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
