FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioners formally recognized the Granges of Hunterdon County during its July 15 meeting, celebrating the organization’s 150th anniversary and its contributions to agriculture, civic engagement and rural life in the region.
Commissioner Director John E. Lanza presented a proclamation marking the occasion, stating, “For 150 years, the Granges have been a cornerstone of Hunterdon County — uplifting rural values, championing community service, and inspiring future generations. Their dedication to the preservation of agricultural traditions and civic life deserves our heartfelt recognition and thanks.”
Founded on June 12, 1874, the Granges of Hunterdon County have played a vital role in supporting local farming and strengthening community bonds. The organization has hosted educational events, youth development programs, and seasonal festivals, including the popular Ringoes Grange Pumpkin Festival. Through their ongoing commitment to land stewardship and intergenerational service, the Granges have remained an integral part of the county’s cultural fabric.
To commemorate the milestone, members and local residents gathered at Stanton Grange on May 31 for a celebratory event, reflecting on the Granges’ enduring legacy and their continued impact on rural life in Hunterdon County.
“As we celebrate this historic milestone,” Lanza said, “we look forward to the Granges continuing their legacy of leadership, service, and connection for generations to come.”
