Overnight lane closures scheduled on I-80 eastbound in Warren and Morris counties

The two right lanes of I-80 eastbound will be closed overnight this week between milepost 4.0 near Exit 4A/Columbia and Exit 27A-B/Route 206 as resurfacing projects continue, the New Jersey Department of Transportation announced.

The closures will run from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, and continue nightly through Friday, Sept. 5, during the same hours. At least one lane will remain open overnight, and where I-80 has four lanes, at least two will stay open.

The overnight work includes milling, paving and striping, and is part of two pavement preservation projects that will resurface about 27 miles of I-80 eastbound. The first covers 12 miles between milepost 0.5 and milepost 12.8 near Hope Road in Warren County. The second extends 14 miles from Hope Road through milepost 27.3 near the Route 206 interchange in Roxbury, Morris County. Both projects are expected to be completed in fall 2025.

Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays in the work zone. Portable message signs are being used to alert drivers of traffic pattern changes.

The schedule is subject to change due to weather or other factors. For real-time travel information, drivers can visit www.511nj.org.
