PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — A 12-year-old boy was seriously injured Wednesday morning after his electric scooter collided with a car on Halsey Road, police said.

The crash happened around 7:15 a.m. Sept. 24 near the intersection of Halsey Road and Quaker Road. According to the preliminary investigation, the boy was riding westbound on Halsey Road when he crossed the double yellow line into the eastbound lane. He was then struck by a 2014 Subaru Impreza traveling east, authorities said.

Police said the boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver of the Subaru stopped immediately and remained at the scene. Investigators said the speed of the Subaru did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
