Early-morning fire damages Hunterdon County home; no injuries reported

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Fire crews from Raritan Township and multiple mutual-aid companies responded to a structure fire early Friday after reports of a grill fire spreading to the rear of a garage, according to the Raritan Township Fire Company.

The fire was reported just before 1 a.m. on Nov. 21 on Patrick Henry Place. Initial dispatch information suggested a possible grill fire that had begun extending into the exterior of the home.

Crews arrived and found a large residential home with flames visible from the rear of the structure. Firefighters confirmed that all residents were accounted for before stretching an attack line to the back of the house, officials said.

Additional crews advanced hose lines through the front door and garage to check for further extension inside the home. All visible fire was quickly extinguished, and searches confirmed no victims. Firefighters reported that the fire was primarily contained to the exterior.

Crews ventilated the interior as needed to clear smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire officials.
