Firefighters contain Thanksgiving morning attic fire in sussex County

FRANKFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) — Firefighters contained a Thanksgiving morning attic fire at a home on Pines Road after multiple agencies responded, the Frankford Township Fire Department said.

The fire was reported at 8:08 a.m. Thursday. Frankford Township firefighters were dispatched along with Branchville Hose Company #1, Sussex Fire & EMS and Blue Ridge Rescue Squad on a first-alarm assignment.

Crews from Frankford and Branchville arrived shortly after dispatch. Firefighters stretched a hand line for an interior attack while additional crews confirmed an active attic fire and assumed command of the scene, according to the department.

Firefighters from multiple companies worked together on suppression efforts, roof ventilation and overhaul operations to expose and extinguish remaining hot spots.

The department said crews operated for just under two hours and were able to contain the majority of fire damage to the attic area of the residence. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately clear.
