Sheriff Gannon promotes 11 officers at Morris County Correctional Facility
MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. — Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon presided over a promotion ceremony Friday recognizing 11 correctional police officers from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections.
The ceremony was held at the Morris County Correctional Facility and honored sworn personnel advancing to leadership roles within the bureau. Those promoted include Warden Anthony Lotz, Captains Thomas Markey and Michael Schweizer, Lieutenants Robert Doriety, David Jenkins and William Williams, and Sergeants Jillian Schweizer, Michael Provenzano, Richard Dalesandro, Jason Simpson and Mike Molde.
Lotz, who joined the bureau in 2002 and graduated from the Passaic County Police Academy in 2004, was named warden. He previously served as administration captain and succeeds Christopher Klein, who served as warden from August 2013 through December 2025. During Klein’s tenure, he oversaw more than 180 sworn and civilian personnel across the bureau’s administrative, support services and security divisions.
Markey, hired in 2006, was promoted to captain after serving in several supervisory roles, including corporal, sergeant and lieutenant. He has primarily worked on shift assignments and also serves as a firearms instructor and leads the department’s Resiliency Program Officer initiative.
Schweizer, who joined the bureau in 2000, was promoted to captain after serving in a range of operational and supervisory positions, including housing unit sergeant, control center sergeant and support services lieutenant. He is also active in charitable law enforcement initiatives, including the Special Olympics Torch Run and the Police Unity Tour.
Doriety, hired in 2001, advanced to lieutenant after previously serving as a housing sergeant, control sergeant, classification supervisor and security sergeant. He also serves as a firearms instructor and member of the Sheriff’s Motor Unit.
Jenkins, who began his career with the bureau in 2005, was promoted to lieutenant after serving in multiple operational roles, most recently as control sergeant.
Williams, whose law enforcement career began in 2002, was promoted to lieutenant after serving as a housing unit officer and housing sergeant. He is expected to continue his career as a shift commander.
Schweizer, who began her career at the correctional facility as a social worker in 2007, was promoted to sergeant. She has served in administrative and supervisory roles, including payroll administration, and currently serves as the bureau’s Resiliency Programs Officer, an FBI-trained crisis and hostage negotiator, an academy instructor and equal opportunity coordinator.
Provenzano, hired in 2012, was promoted to sergeant after serving in several key assignments, including the intake unit and housing units. He also served for a decade on the PBA Local 298 board and is a member of the Morris County Honor Guard.
Dalesandro, who joined the bureau in 2020 after graduating from the Juvenile Justice Commission Correctional Police Academy, was promoted to sergeant following service in multiple housing unit assignments.
Simpson, hired in 2006, was promoted to sergeant after serving in housing, medical officer and transport assignments. He has worked for the Sheriff’s Office for nearly 20 years.
Molde, who began his career in 2009, was promoted to sergeant after serving in housing, intake, gang intelligence and internal affairs roles. He has also served as a firearms instructor and previously held the rank of detective corporal.
The Morris County Sheriff’s Office congratulated the officers on their promotions and service to the county.
