
Route 23 crash in Sussex County injures three, closes highway for about an hour
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Route 23 in Franklin Borough, temporarily closing the highway in both directions, police said.
Officers from the Franklin Borough Police Department responded to the crash at about 7:20 p.m. The collision prompted the closure of Route 23 northbound and southbound between Franklin Avenue (County Route 631) and Munsonhurst Road (County Route 517) for approximately one hour, with assistance from neighboring agencies.
Police said the three occupants involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to local hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.
Franklin Borough officers conducted the investigation at the scene and worked to safely clear the roadway. Inclement weather conditions were present at the time of the crash and are being reviewed as a possible contributing factor, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
