Mount Olive police take 20 children on holiday shopping spree with help from Walmart grant

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Twenty local children received a holiday shopping trip with Mount Olive police officers this week thanks to a $3,000 Walmart grant awarded to the department earlier this year.

Police said the Mount Olive Police Department received the grant in 2025 and worked with guidance counselors at the township’s middle and elementary schools to identify families who would benefit from extra support during the holiday season. The selected children were paired with officers for a Christmas shopping spree on Dec. 9.

“Needless to say, the children had a great time, and so did our officers,” the department said in a statement. Police also offered a “huge shout out to Walmart for making this possible.”
