Hackettstown man accused of giving false information to police in Hanover Township

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Hackettstown man was arrested after he was accused of providing false information to police during an investigation in Hanover Township, authorities said.

Police said Zackary Potten, 29, of Hackettstown was arrested Dec. 15, 2025, and charged with hindering by providing false information to law enforcement.

According to police, Potten contacted the police department to report an incident that occurred in Hanover Township. During a subsequent investigation, officers determined that the information he provided was not truthful and that he allegedly attempted to implicate another individual rather than the person responsible.

Potten was processed and released with a summons. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date, police said.
