Hunterdon County honors purchasing agent Raymond Rule for 40 years of public service
FLEMINGTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon County commissioners recognized county purchasing agent Raymond Rule this week for 40 years of public service, citing his long tenure and leadership in county operations.
The Board of County Commissioners honored Rule during its Jan. 20 meeting, county officials said.
“Ray Rule represents the very best of public service. For 40 years, he has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to Hunterdon County, guided by professionalism, integrity, and a genuine passion for his work. His devotion and leadership have strengthened county operations and earned the respect of his colleagues and this Board,” Director John E. Lanza said.
Rule began working for Hunterdon County in January 1986 as a clerk driver in the Roads and Bridges Department while also supporting the Purchasing Department, officials said. In 1989, he moved full time into purchasing and advanced through positions including purchasing expediter, buyer, senior buyer and unclassified purchasing agent, a role in which he currently serves as division head, according to the county.
County officials said Rule has supported multiple departments and initiatives over four decades and has focused on “fair, transparent, and innovative purchasing practices.”
The county described Rule as known for a positive attitude and enthusiasm, noting his personal motto: “TCB – Taking Care of Business.”
