Bomb threat at Sussex County Weis Market store unfounded, police say

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — Police responded Sunday evening to a reported bomb threat at a Weis Markets store in Franklin Borough and determined after an investigation that there was no danger to the public.

According to the Franklin Borough Police Department, officers were dispatched to the store and, out of an abundance of caution, conducted a thorough search of the building with assistance from a K-9 unit. No active threat was found during the search, and the report was determined to be unfounded.

Police said there was no danger to the public at any time.

Authorities thanked store employees and members of the community for their cooperation during the response. Police also reiterated that all reported threats are taken seriously and fully investigated to ensure public safety.
