Fire crews contain garage blaze in Warren County amid frigid conditions
KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Firefighters from across Warren County responded Saturday evening to a structure fire on Ramseyburg Road in Knowlton Township that was contained to a single garage despite harsh winter conditions, officials said.
At approximately 5:04 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, Knowlton Township Fire & Rescue, the New Jersey State Police and Atlantic EMS were dispatched to reports of fire and smoke at a property on Ramseyburg Road. Initial reports confirmed an active fire, prompting the transmission of a first alarm and the response of multiple mutual aid departments.
Crews from Hope Volunteer Fire Company, Good Will Fire Company, Portland Hook and Ladder, Blairstown Hose Company, Mount Bethel Fire Company, Allamuchy Fire Department, Mountain Lake Fire Company and Belvidere Emergency Medical Services were called to assist.
Firefighters deployed multiple hand lines and were able to contain the blaze to a single garage, successfully protecting nearby buildings from damage. Officials said crews faced significant challenges due to below-zero wind chills, which caused hoses and equipment to freeze during firefighting operations.
Fire units remained on scene for approximately three hours before the incident was brought under control. The Warren County Road Department also provided assistance at the scene. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
