Hunterdon County announces 2026 electronics recycling, hazardous waste collection dates

HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — The Hunterdon County Health Department has announced its 2026 schedule for electronics recycling and household hazardous waste collection events, giving residents opportunities throughout the year to safely dispose of unwanted materials.

County officials said the events are intended to help residents properly handle items that should not be placed in regular household trash.

“These collection events provide residents with a safe and responsible way to dispose of materials that should not go into regular household trash,” Commissioner Shaun Van Doren said. “By taking advantage of these opportunities, residents can help protect the environment and keep Hunterdon County clean and safe.”

Electronics recycling events will take place at the Hunterdon County Complex on Route 12 in Raritan Township on March 14, June 27, Aug. 29 and Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents can bring a variety of electronics, including televisions, computers, laptops, printers, stereos, gaming consoles and telephones. Air conditioners and dehumidifiers will also be accepted.

Household hazardous waste collection events will be held March 21, June 20 and Nov. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Those events allow residents to safely dispose of materials such as oil-based paints, pesticides, gasoline, stains, aerosol cans and fluorescent bulbs.

All events are open only to Hunterdon County residents and are limited to household quantities. Residents may bring up to 10 gallons or 80 pounds of materials per visit. Fees apply only to amounts exceeding those limits, and commercial vehicles will not be accepted.

The programs are coordinated by the Hunterdon County Health Department as part of the county’s efforts to promote environmental stewardship and protect public health.

Residents seeking more information about the events can contact the Hunterdon County Health Department at 908-788-1351 or visit the county’s recycling and solid waste services webpage.
