NJ Labor Department reports 42 employers comply with pay transparency law
TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced that more than 40 major employers have voluntarily complied with the state’s pay transparency law following a targeted enforcement initiative.
The law, which took effect June 1, 2025, requires employers to disclose salary, benefits and other compensation details in job postings.
“We are proud to work with New Jersey’s top employers to make sure critical information like salary and benefits are included in job postings to empower workers seeking new career opportunities,” said Acting Commissioner Kevin D. Jarvis. “We commend the 42 New Jersey businesses who are leading the charge to voluntarily comply with the law, fostering a more equitable and transparent working environment for both New Jersey businesses and workers.”
Officials said the Department’s Office of Strategic Enforcement and Compliance worked with businesses across multiple industries — including banking, health care, technology, food service and education — to improve compliance during the law’s initial rollout.
The initiative focused on employers whose job postings did not initially meet the law’s requirements. Through outreach and agreements, those businesses updated or removed postings and committed to future compliance. Penalties were waived due to their cooperation, officials said.
Under the law, employers must include a salary or wage range, a general description of benefits and any additional compensation programs in job postings. The requirements apply to all formats, including online listings, social media, print advertisements and internal postings.
