Morris County man charged with sexual assault, possession of child sex abuse material

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 71-year-old man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) following allegations involving a 10-year-old child, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Gregory Rademacher, of Washington Township, was taken into custody on Aug. 4 and is facing multiple charges, including one count of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child (sexual conduct with a minor under 18)—both second-degree crimes. He is also charged with possession of CSAM and witness tampering, both third-degree offenses.

According to Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Washington Township Police Chief Jeffrey Almer, the charges stem from a July 27 disclosure in which a 10-year-old child reported that Rademacher had committed multiple acts of sexual contact during a visit to his home. The child also alleged that the suspect showed him a sex toy.

A search warrant executed at the defendant’s residence resulted in the seizure of multiple electronic devices, which investigators say contained images of child sexual abuse material.

Following Rademacher’s arrest, the State filed a motion for pretrial detention, which remains pending.

Prosecutor Carroll thanked the Washington Township Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit for their work in the investigation.
