Brush fire burns several acres in Hunterdon County

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A brush fire that spread through high grass and pine trees Friday afternoon in Franklin Township was contained within a few hours, according to fire officials.

Quakertown Fire Company responded to Old Franklin School Road and arrived to find a rapidly spreading fire. Additional assistance was requested from fire departments in Raritan, Kingwood and Delaware townships, along with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.

Officials said the fire burned approximately 3 to 4 acres before crews brought it under control.

The incident was contained and cleared in about two hours. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
