NJDOT seeks public input on Route 23 safety study in Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — The New Jersey Department of Transportation is asking residents, commuters and business owners to provide feedback as part of a new study examining safety and mobility improvements along Route 23 in Sussex County.

The Route 23 Concept Development Study focuses on the corridor between Master Street and Scenic Lake Road in the boroughs of Hamburg and Franklin.

Transportation officials said the study will evaluate potential improvements aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for all roadway users, including motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

NJDOT is encouraging members of the public to share how they currently use the corridor and identify challenges they experience when traveling through the area.

Officials say public feedback will help planners better understand community needs and guide potential design improvements along the route.

The department has launched an online survey to collect input from residents and others who regularly travel through the corridor.

People interested in participating can complete the survey online at www.Route23SafetyProject.com/pages/survey.

Questions or additional comments about the project can be submitted to the study’s project team at Route23safetyproject@stvinc.com.

NJDOT officials said community participation will play an important role in identifying barriers to mobility and shaping future improvements along the Route 23 corridor.
