Woman charged with DWI, resisting arrest after crash in Morris County
HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Whippany woman was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, following a motor vehicle crash in Hanover Township, police said.
On March 7, police responded to a reported crash and determined that one of the drivers, identified as Zenus Jackson, 61, showed signs of impairment and refused to follow directions.
Authorities said Jackson called 9-1-1 without cause and continued to refuse commands, leading to her arrest. During the arrest, she became disorderly and resisted.
Jackson was taken into custody, placed in handcuffs and transported to police headquarters for processing.
Further investigation at headquarters included standardized field sobriety testing and a drug recognition expert evaluation, after which she was additionally charged with driving while impaired, police said.
She also faces charges of false public alarm, obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.
Officials said Jackson remained in a holding cell until she was sober and could be released, as she was unable to secure a ride from a responsible party.
