Pro wrestling fundraiser ‘Great Swamp Smackdown IX’ set for May 16 in Stirling

STIRLING, N.J. (Morris County) — Professional wrestling will return to Stirling next month as “Great Swamp Smackdown IX” brings a night of live action and community fundraising to the Long Hill Township Community Center.

The event is scheduled for May 16, with doors opening at 6 p.m. at the center, located at 264 South Warren Ave. It is being held as a benefit fundraiser in partnership with the Bernards Township Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Long Hill Police Benevolent Association.

The card will feature appearances and in-ring action from several well-known wrestling figures, including WWE/NXT Superstar Bull James, former WWE performer James Ellsworth and ECW original heavyweight champion Jason Knight.

Organizers said the lineup will also include a CCW heavyweight title match, a women’s title match and a lucha libre bout.

Tickets are priced at $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 and younger. Advance tickets can be reserved by calling 908-339-5937 or 908-766-6755, with credit card purchases available to secure seating. Tickets will also be sold at the door, though officials recommend early purchase for preferred seating.

Proceeds from the event will support local and regional causes, including providing free seats for area veterans and children with special needs through business sponsorships.

“This is an awesome event featuring pro wrestling stars,” Chamber President Al LiCata and PBA representative Gary Bauer said in a joint statement. “We anticipate another packed house for a great night of pro wrestling action locally.”

In addition to the matches, attendees will have opportunities for photos, autographs and merchandise purchases. An after-party is planned at a local venue following the event.

LiCata said organizers aim to continue offering family-friendly entertainment while supporting community initiatives.

“It’s our goal to provide these fun, family evenings for all to enjoy and know that the proceeds benefit worthy local causes,” he said.
