Pa. man sentenced to 5 years for sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child in Warren County
WARREN COUNTY, NJ – A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced Friday to five years in New Jersey State Prison for sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
Garry N. Bunting, 32, of Bethlehem previously pled guilty to second-degree sexual assault which occurred in January 2022 when the victim was just 16-years-old and known to him. Under the No Early Release Act, he must serve 85% of his sentence—at least 51 months—before being eligible for parole, authorities said.
In addition to the sexual assault charge, Bunting also pled guilty to two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child. These incidents took place in October 2021 involving two victims, aged 11 and 16, who were also known to him. His sentences for these charges will run concurrently with the sexual assault sentence.
As part of his sentencing, Bunting is required to register under Megan’s Law, undergo parole supervision for life, and pay mandatory fines. He has also been ordered to have no contact with the victims.
Bunting remains in the Warren County Jail pending transfer to the New Jersey Department of Corrections.
