Chlorine incident at Hunterdon County YMCA prompts hazmat response; no injuries reported

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Emergency responders were called Saturday morning to a reported chlorine incident at the Deer Path branch of the YMCA in Readington Township, authorities said.

The incident occurred at the facility located at 144 W. Woodschurch Road. Two maintenance workers were exposed to chlorine but were not injured, officials said.

Responding agencies included the Three Bridges Fire Department, Hunterdon County Hazardous Materials Unit and the Whitehouse Rescue Squad. No injuries were reported among responders or members of the public.

Officials did not immediately release additional details about the cause of the incident.
