Man charged with aggravated assault following incident at Sussex County Walmart

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Hamburg man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after an incident earlier this year at a Walmart parking lot in Franklin Borough, authorities said.

Police said the incident began Feb. 5 when officers responded to a report of a man who had fallen in the parking lot. Upon arrival, Thomas Lozier, 59, of Hamburg Borough, was found to be highly intoxicated and in need of medical attention.

Authorities said Lozier became disorderly during the encounter, causing a disturbance near patrons and repeatedly threatening to kill an officer.

Lozier was transported to a local medical facility for treatment and was later charged in connection with the incident.

He was charged with fourth-degree aggravated assault on law enforcement and disorderly conduct, a petty disorderly persons offense.

Lozier was issued a complaint summons and released pending a future court appearance in Sussex County Superior Court, in accordance with New Jersey’s bail reform guidelines.
