Hunterdon Health earns 13th consecutive ‘A’ safety grade from Leapfrog

HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — Hunterdon Health has received its 13th consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, according to the health system.

The Spring 2026 rating recognizes hospitals for efforts to protect patients from preventable harm, medical errors and infections.

“We are proud to be nationally recognized for patient safety by receiving thirteen consecutive A grades. This signifies our outstanding effort and attention to patient safety which is at the forefront of everything we do,” stated Patrick Gavin, President and CEO of Hunterdon Health.

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns hospitals letter grades ranging from “A” to “F” based on more than 30 performance measures related to patient safety.

The organization evaluates factors including medical errors, accidents, injuries, infections and hospital safety systems designed to prevent harm.

According to Leapfrog, the Hospital Safety Grade program is the only national hospital ratings system focused exclusively on preventable patient harm and safety outcomes.

Grades are updated twice each year in the spring and fall.

“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade reflects enormous dedication to patient safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I extend my congratulations Hunterdon Health, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for creating a culture where patients come first.”
