Gottheimer honors North Jersey Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout Gold Award recipients

PARAMUS, N.J. (Bergen County) — U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer honored dozens of North Jersey Scouts this weekend during the annual Fifth District Scout Honor Ceremony recognizing Eagle Scouts and Girl Scout Gold Award recipients.

The ceremony celebrated Scouts from across New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District who achieved the highest honors in Scouting programs after completing community service and leadership projects.

“I am honored to celebrate the hard-earned achievements of all these Scouts who’ve attained the highest rank in the Scouting programs — the rank of Eagle Scout and the Girl Scout Gold Award,” Gottheimer said. “Thank you to the young leaders — all of our Scouts here today — for your dedication to bettering our community and country. A decade ago, you were a Bobcat or a Brownie. And today, after countless badges, camps, jamborees, and boxes of cookies, you’ve attained the highest honor in scouting. It’s incredible. I know you will all go forth and change the world.”

According to Gottheimer’s office, the Scouts completed a variety of projects benefiting their communities, including creating banners honoring veterans and building community gardens supporting local food pantries.
