Entangled deer rescued from soccer net in Morris County

MENDHAM BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — Firefighters in Mendham responded to an unusual rescue call Thursday — freeing a deer that had become trapped in a soccer net.

According to the Mendham Fire Department, crews were dispatched by the Mendham Borough Police Department to Mountain View Middle School on Sept. 18, where the animal was found tangled in the netting.

The crew was able to safely cut the deer loose and release it back into the wild.

“Always happy to lend a helping hand — or hoof!” the department said in a Facebook post about the incident.
