Warren County commissioner encourages residents to explore parks, trails on National Trails Day

WARREN COUNTY, N.J. – Warren County Commissioner James R. Kern III is encouraging residents and visitors to celebrate National Trails Day on June 6 by exploring the county’s extensive network of parks, trails and preserved open spaces.

National Trails Day, observed annually across the United States, promotes outdoor recreation and highlights the importance of preserving public lands and trail systems for future generations.

Kern noted that Warren County offers more than 26 miles of trails throughout its park system, providing opportunities for hiking, walking, birdwatching, fishing, photography and other outdoor activities.

“Warren County is fortunate to have an incredible network of parks, trails, preserved farmland, and open spaces that allow residents to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors,” said Commissioner Kern. “National Trails Day is a great reminder of the importance of preserving these resources while ensuring they remain accessible and enjoyable for future generations.”

The Warren County Park System includes 10 parks encompassing more than 2,900 acres of forests, meadows, wetlands, streams, lakes, historic sites and wildlife habitats.

Kern said National Trails Day offers an opportunity for residents to experience the county’s natural beauty while learning more about the recreational and environmental resources available throughout the region.

The nationwide observance encourages people of all ages and skill levels to get outdoors and enjoy public trails while promoting stewardship of natural resources.

Residents interested in exploring Warren County’s parks and trail network can access trail maps and recreation information through the Warren County Park System.
