Outbuilding, multiple vehicles destroyed in Hunterdon County fire
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Firefighters battled a fully involved outbuilding fire that spread to multiple vehicles early Monday morning in Delaware Township, according to the Delaware Township Fire Company.
Firefighters and mutual aid departments were dispatched shortly before 5 a.m. to Whiskey Lane for a reported building fire.
The first arriving chief found an outbuilding fully engulfed in flames, with multiple vehicles also on fire.
The first engine company on scene used a deck gun to begin knocking down the fire while firefighters stretched handlines to continue suppression efforts. Crews established a water supply from a neighboring pond across the street.
The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes.
The Delaware Township Fire Company thanked its mutual aid partners for assisting at the scene and covering the station during the incident, as well as the Delaware Township Police Department for its support. The department also recognized Martin Excavating for providing heavy equipment to assist firefighters during overhaul operations.
According to the fire company, the incident marked the department’s 34th emergency call since Friday evening.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was not immediately released.
