Two Warren County residents charged after dogs allegedly abandoned at park

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Two Washington Township residents have been charged with animal cruelty after authorities allege they abandoned two dogs at a park in a neighboring jurisdiction.

The Washington Township Police Department said a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were charged June 5 following an investigation by the township’s Humane Law Enforcement Officer. Police did not release the names of the individuals.

According to police, the investigation began in May after the Humane Law Enforcement Officer was notified that two dogs had been abandoned at a park outside Washington Township.

After several weeks of investigation, authorities determined the man and woman, both Washington Township residents, were allegedly responsible for abandoning the animals.

Both individuals were each charged with two counts of abandonment of animals and were issued two summonses requiring mandatory court appearances.
