Warren County woman charged with child neglect after toddler found alone in Hanover hotel hallway

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — An Oxford woman was charged with child neglect after police said her 1-year-old daughter was found wandering alone in the hallway of an Extended Stay motel in Hanover Township.

According to police, officers responded June 12 after a motel guest found the unsupervised child in a hallway and alerted hotel staff.

Police said an employee determined which room the child had come from and knocked on the door. The child’s mother, Brittany Grosinski, 28, answered the door and brought the child back into the room. The employee told police she believed Grosinski may have been under the influence and was concerned about the child’s safety.

During the investigation, police said Grosinski admitted she had smoked marijuana earlier. She told officers she had fallen asleep and that her daughter, who had recently learned how to open doors, left the room on her own.

Police arrested Grosinski after the child’s father returned to the motel. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was charged with child neglect. She was later released pending a court appearance.

The New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency was notified of the incident.
