New Jersey American Water donates $1,000 to Hopatcong Pound Project through mayor’s charity program
HOPATCONG BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — The Hopatcong Pound Project has received a $1,000 donation from New Jersey American Water through the company’s “Mayor’s Charity of Choice” program.
The nonprofit organization was selected by Hopatcong Mayor Marie Galate after she won a raffle at the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, earning the opportunity to designate a local charity to receive the donation.
The Hopatcong Pound Project is dedicated to rescuing and caring for cats in the Hopatcong community, including feral, unadoptable and FIV-positive cats that many animal shelters are unable to accept.
New Jersey American Water presented the $1,000 donation as part of its “Mayor’s Charity of Choice” initiative, which supports local nonprofit organizations selected by participating mayors.
The donation will help the Hopatcong Pound Project continue providing care and support for vulnerable cats throughout the community.
