Morristown, Overlook ranked among New Jersey’s top three hospitals by U.S. News & World Report
NEW JERSEY — Atlantic Health announced that Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center have once again been ranked among New Jersey’s top three hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in its 2026-27 Best Hospitals rankings.
Morristown Medical Center ranked second in New Jersey, while Overlook Medical Center ranked third, making Atlantic Health the only health system with two hospitals in the state’s top three, according to the health system.
Morristown Medical Center earned national rankings in three adult specialties: Orthopedics (No. 13), Urology (No. 25), and Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery (No. 41). The hospital also received high-performing ratings in Geriatrics and Gastroenterology and GI Surgery.
Atlantic Health said Morristown’s Orthopedics program remains the highest-ranked in New Jersey and ranks fourth in the New York metropolitan area. Its Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery program was also the highest-ranked in New Jersey and eighth in the New York metropolitan area.
Overlook Medical Center maintained its No. 3 ranking in New Jersey and tied for No. 16 in the New York metropolitan area. It was recognized as high-performing in Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Atlantic Health also announced that CentraState Medical Center was recognized as high-performing in Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma, Pneumonia and Stroke, while Newton Medical Center earned a high-performing designation for Stroke.

Morristown Medical Center also received high-performing ratings in 22 common adult procedures and conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, hip and knee replacement, stroke, lung cancer surgery and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
Overlook Medical Center was recognized as high-performing in 15 common adult procedures and conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, stroke, pneumonia, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, and hip and knee replacement.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions, with only 16% earning a Best Hospitals designation.
